PR Connections- Why wake up early?

2 Feb

I have just read an article on 10 reasons to wake up earlier, and six tips for doing so by Peter Shankman. Basically the whole article is convincing people to get up early because you will have better affects. For example one thing that article talked about was how CEO’s are mainly successful because they get up early and get an early start. I strongly agree with this as long as you are actually getting up to start work. Anyone can get up early and find other things to do and get distracted by anything, but someone who gets up earlier and gets straight to work is going to pay off when looking back at their work. Of course there are going to be a lot of people today that are going to be doing the same work so while others are sleeping you will be working and getting a better working process done.

For me this is the easiest to compare to sports because I have always played basketball. Therefore if I slept all day and woke up and did not even touch a basketball my chances on playing in the next game and playing at my best ability are slim. Why would a Coach even want a player like that? We have to motivate each other and strive for what is best for us because no one else is going to help us do it. We are going to be against people so we have to show them we can take in charge and handle are business. DON’T BE A BAD PLAYER FOR A COACH!

In reality I do not think it really matters when you wake up to work, but the fact that you are working hard and getting work done. For example if you are a night owl and like to stay up late and this method works better for you I think you should stick to it.

What do you not want to do?

– You do not want to sleep in all day and then get up and start working and get nothing accomplished because you fall asleep because you tired.

As long as you can get time to work on whatever it is you need to work on and you feel like you put out your best THAT IS WHAT COUNTS!

Just remember these simple rules:

  1. You determine your success.
  2. When you are not working on something just remember other people are working on it while you’re occupying your time with something else.
  3. No one else is going to care what you do; everyone else is on their own.
  4. You want something you have to put time in for it.

YOU MAKE THE CHOICE WHAT JOB DO YOU WANT?

HOW MUCH TIME ARE YOU GOING TO PUT INTO GETTING A JOB?

Hey! I really liked your blog about getting up and being productive! It is so true not to sleep your day away. I really like the pictures at the end, since we determine how we are going to start our day. Waking up early and going to work will definitely help a person in the long run by developing a positive a work ethic.
    Thank you

    Sandra,

I liked your post because I have a hard time getting up unless someone else either helps me stay motivated or I, myself, really want to reach a certain goal. It’s easy for us all to just sleep the day away if we have the option to, but as they say “the early bird catches the worm,” and someone else will be making forward progress while we hit the snooze button. However, I would have liked if you added a link to Peter Shankman’s article so I could read his six tips on how to get up earlier.

The correlation between being able to play in the next basketball game due to practicing more in the morning, and succeeding in business because you woke up earlier to accomplish tasks before anyone else is interesting. I think that it is a great point although it is difficult to get anyone up before dawn. My advice is to go to bed early. Sleep is important, so don’t force yourself to wake up when it will cause you to only have 5 hours of sleep. It’s not healthy.
